Cleaning is not always pleasant, but unfortunately it is necessary – both for health and hygiene. The good news is that it is possible to make cleaning a little easier and more convenient. You can do this by  applying just a few quick and effective cleaning tips.

1. Cleaning the BBQ

If the weather is nice outside and you want to have a nice barbecue, but you don’t know whether the grill is properly clean, pay attention!

How should you clean the barbecue? Easy. Cut an onion in half and rub it over the grill before barbecuing. Onions have antiseptic and antiviral properties that will help eliminate all types of microorganisms and give your food a pleasant taste.

2. Cleaning the blender

You’re probably used to scrubbing your blender with soap and water after you’ve used it, so that it looks like new again. However, things don’t have to be that complicated with our cleaning tips!

  • Simply put a glass of warm water with some washing-up liquid in the blender jar and then turn the blender on for a few seconds.
  • All you have to do is rinse the blender.

3. The microwave

If you often use the microwave, at some point a layer of fat and food particles will build up that promotes the growth of bacteria.

To ensure that your microwave is properly cleaned and especially to eliminate all micro-organisms, put a cup with equal parts water and vinegar in the microwave and heat it for five minutes.

Then leave the cup in the microwave for a while before  wiping the microwave clean with a paper towel.

4. The shower head

Because this damp part of the shower is often overlooked when it comes time to clean the bathroom, rust and limescale can build up on and in the shower head.

Take a look! You will probably suddenly see how dirty your shower head actually is. Fortunately, it is not necessary to unscrew the shower head completely to clean it properly. You can :

  • First, fill a plastic bag with some vinegar.
  • Then tie it around your shower head.
  • Then soak the shower head in the vinegar for an hour.

5. Take good care of your mattress

It’s a good idea to air out your mattress from time to time to eliminate mites and bacteria that cause unpleasant odors.

However, to ensure that your mattress is properly cleaned, pour a little vodka into a spray bottle and spray it well on your mattress.

6. Cleaning blinds

Blinds generally collect a lot of dust quickly and easily, requiring regular cleaning to ensure long-lasting beauty.

An easy way to keep your blinds looking like new is to wipe them clean with a sock,  which will allow you to reach even the most difficult places.

7. Remove food residues from the frying pan

When cleaning your pans, never try to use aggressive or degreasing products. For both your health and the environment, it is better to mix a little water with some salt and then use this mixture together with a sponge to clean your cookware and promote the dissolution and removal of fats.

8. Cleaning the cheese grater

When you grate cheese, it is often difficult to get the grater clean afterwards. As a result, there are almost always some leftovers, which at some point start to stink.

To say goodbye to this problem for good, you can try to grate another piece of raw potato after grating and then rinse the grater with water. Potatoes contain oxalic acid, an ingredient that will help remove all types of cheese residue.

9. Disinfect cutting boards

You may find this hard to believe, but wooden cutting boards can be even dirtier than the dirtiest part of your bathroom.

Make sure you always clean your cutting board thoroughly. You can do this by wiping the board clean with some lemon juice and salt or a little bit of hydrogen peroxide.

10. Cleaning the bathtub

Is your bathtub starting to look dull and rusty? Then mix some grapefruit juice with a little salt to use as a cleaning agent. If you don’t feel like juicing the grapefruit, you can simply wipe the tub with the pulp.
