A homemade and natural facial cleansing

We have to take care of our skin, the sensitive organ that covers almost our entire body. This means that we must really think about taking care of our skin, not only for aesthetic reasons, but also for health reasons. Today we will therefore focus on natural facial cleansing.

You don’t have to go to a reputable beauty salon or use expensive chemical products to cleanse or repair your facial skin. You can do this at home and provide a completely natural facial cleansing.

This is not just about necessary personal hygiene. It is also the perfect way to rejuvenate your face. We propose the following steps for a simple and natural but effective cleansing of your facial skin.

Open your pores through natural facial cleansing

The very first step is to wash your face with soap and warm water. Once you have removed all the dirt and superficial impurities that build up during the day, we proceed to open the pores before applying the mask.

The preparation of the skin is an essential step as it promotes the absorption of the products we use afterwards.

Heat a pan of water until it boils. Then remove the cooking pot from the heat and add an herb, such as lavender, chamomile or green tea. Then position your face directly over the pan and cover yourself and the cooking pot with a towel. This way your face can optimally absorb the vapor. Two to five minutes should be enough to open the pores.

Scrub or exfoliate

In this phase we want to remove all dead skin cells that are on the skin. We also want to stimulate the production of new cells. Exfoliating also helps to remove scars and prevent flaky skin. It also promotes good blood circulation in the skin.

It is important to perform this step only when the skin is completely clean and the pores are open. You can exfoliate or exfoliate according to different homemade recipes:

Natural facial cleansing with almonds

almond scrub

Combine the following ingredients and store in a clean glass bowl. Whenever you apply the natural facial wash, which can be once a week, apply this mixture to the face.

  • 1/2 cup sea salt;
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract;
  • 1/2 cup ground coffee;
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar;
  • 1/2 cup sweet almond oil.

Coconut-and-chocolate scrub

Mix oil with sugar and extracts until you have a homogeneous whole. Then add cocoa powder and save it for later use.

  • 1/2 cup of liquid coconut oil;
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder;
  • 1 cup brown sugar;
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure coconut extract;
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

Lemon-and-almond scrub

With this mixture you should preferably avoid contact with liquids. Prepare before washing your face and mix again with your fingers just before use.

  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest;
  • 1/2 cup sea salt;
  • 1/2 cup sweet almond oil.

It is important that you apply the scrubs with a gentle, circular massage all over the face. It is best to use an antiseptic cotton ball, because that way you can use some pressure. This step removes the dirt and dead cells, leaving the skin completely ready for the rest of the natural treatment.

After the massage, let the scrub soak in for about 20 minutes, so that it can do its job. Then rinse your face with warm water. After this step, we can take care of pimples and blackheads. This is the only time you can do this without damaging the skin or causing infections.

face mask

face mask

Is the skin clean and exfoliated and has all impurities been removed? Then the time has come to apply a natural mask  according to your needs.

There are masks that rehydrate dry skin, remove excess oil, eliminate scars. There are also others that close pores or prevent the appearance of wrinkles.

You can apply the mask until it hardens. When using a peeling mask, leave it on for about 20 to 30 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water. Afterwards it is best to dry the skin by patting it gently.

Below we give you the recipes of some of the simplest and most effective masks, so that you can get started yourself. This is the second to last step of our natural facial cleansing.

Mask against wrinkles

Mix 1/2 cup of cucumber pulp (without the seeds) with a raw egg. Apply enough on the face and leave it on for at least half an hour.

Mask that stabilizes your pH level

Mix a packet of gelatin with a cup of tomato pulp. Heat the gelatin and then add the pulp until a compact mask forms. Once the mixture has cooled, leave the mask on for 20 minutes. The presence of the tomato will stabilize your pH level again, while the gelatin will give the skin a healthy color.

A moisturizing mask

For this mask you will need half a mashed avocado, two teaspoons of honey and two eggs. Beat the eggs until frothy and then add the rest of the ingredients. When you have a thin paste, apply it to the skin.

This mask doesn’t just moisturize. The  avocado also helps to control scars or hyperpigmentation. Leave the mask on your face for at least half an hour.

As you’ve probably noticed, you don’t need any special ingredients to make a homemade mask. The biggest advantage is that all masks are completely natural and therefore have no contraindications. They provide smooth and beautiful skin. Always remove the masks with warm water and then pat the skin dry.

Close the pores

As soon as you have purified the skin by means of natural facial cleansing, it is best to immediately ensure that the pores close again. This way you prevent impurities from penetrating into your pores again.

You can do this by applying ice cold water to the skin. To do this, melt a few ice cubes. However, if you have used a mask that contains tomato or cucumber, they have already caused your pores to close.

Other products that also help close pores due to their unique properties include green tea, mint, and apple cider vinegar.

Apply them to your face after moistening your face with a towel. Wait for them to dry completely before rinsing your face again with cool water.

The last step of natural facial cleansing

Once you’re done purifying your skin, it’s important to keep your face moist enough so that this purity lingers for a while. Don’t let your skin dry out or get too oily.

A moisturizing cream is perfect for that, although it is better to check whether it is suitable for your skin. This prevents your skin from becoming too dry or too oily, itchy or aging. Moisturize your skin daily to keep it taut and smooth.

You can also make a homemade anti-wrinkle cream for dry skin. If you keep it in the fridge, you can keep the mixture for three months, although we don’t recommend that. The cream is most effective the days after it is prepared. Use the following ingredients:

  • 25 grams of cucumber puree;
  • 25 grams of distilled water;
  • 25 grams of jojoba oil;
  • 25 grams of grapeseed oil;
  • 25 grams of essential rose oil.

Mix all ingredients in a deep bowl until the water and oil are well mixed with the other ingredients. Store the cream in a glass bowl. You can now use it daily to fully enjoy its benefits.

A tip: apply the mask when you get out of the shower/bath. The skin is then clean and the pores are open, making it easier for the cream to do its job.
